Abbey Church Notices - 12 June 2011
Abbey Church Notices - Whit Sunday or Pentecost - Sunday 12 June 2011.
The Abbey Boys’ Brigade Company is once again holding a charity fundraiser next Sunday, 19 June, to take place on the cycle track in the town’s William Street. The charity which the Company has chosen to support this year is Macmillan Cancer Relief and, if any member or friend of the congregation wishes to sponsor the Company, could they please sponsor Abbey Elder Norman Smith, and a sponsorship form thereanent has been placed on the Nave Notice Board.
Also on the Nave Notice Board is a poster promoting events at Dunfermline Abbeyfield Sheltered Housing which organisation, note, happens to have vacancies at their premises at Allister House in Park Avenue where afternoon tea will be served this afternoon, and Seath House in Transy Place where there will be an Open Morning on Tuesday of this week, but do consult the poster for additional details.
Following the success of last year’s event, the Abbey Youth Group will once again be holding a Fun Quiz Night on Saturday 25 June at 7.30 pm in the Abbey Halls. That will be very much a fun evening and a million miles away from ‘Mastermind’. Entry per team (and teams consist of 4-6 people) is £10 which includes refreshments, and please note that all cash raised on the night will go to a charity nominated by the winning team, so please consider coming along and supporting that event. The more teams there are, the more cash can be raised for charity. Entry forms together with further details can be found on the Rood Screen as you leave church today.
Also on the Rood Screen are leaflets giving details of the Associate Minister’s promotion of a Congregational Outing to the Isle of May in September and anyone interested in going on that outing is invited to take a leaflet.
Next Sunday’s 11 a.m. Service will include the Sacrament of Infant Baptism as well as marking the Abbey Young Church’s end of session presentation and prize-giving prior to the summer break.
