Abbey Organisations

Abbey Toddler Group
The Abbey Toddler Group meets on a Monday morning from 9.30am until 11.00am in the Church Hall in Abbey Park Place. All babies and toddlers are welcome to come along and socialise with other children and play with the toys provided. It is also a chance for parents/carers to meet other parents for a chat. There are also annual events: a Halloween party, a Christmas party and a teddy bears picnic in the summer.

Abbey Youth Group
The Youth Group invites children from S1 upwards to join us on a Sunday. We meet at 11.00am in the Church (front pews) and follow the Sunday School over to the Church Hall where we meet in room 2 upstairs.

Our activities include: running a trade craft stall during the morning coffees at the end of each month; taking an active part in supporting local charities with our group`s focus being Christianity in action, both in our home community and overseas. Throughout the year our group holds a number of social events, for example bowling, quiz nights and cinema visits.

Boys Brigade
Boys Brigade – Anchor Boys
The Anchor Boys invite boys of Primary 2 and Primary 3 age to join them in the Abbey Church Hall. They meet every Wednesday from 6.00pm for various activities including games and arts and crafts.

Boys Brigade – Junior Section
The BBs’ Junior Section invite boys of Primary 4, 5 and 6 age to join them in the Abbey Church Hall. They meet every Wednesday from 7.00pm until 8.15pm for various activities including games and arts and crafts, as well as drill competitions, 5-aside football and quizzes.

Boys Brigade – Company Section
The BBs’ Company Section invite boys from Primary 7 to the age of 18 to join them in the Abbey Church Hall. They meet every week for a broad range of activities including: community service, physical activities, adventure, hill walking, camping, etc. Members of the Company Section can also attain their President’s Badge at the age of 15 and the Queen’s Badge at the age of 16. They also participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

Rainbows, Brownies and Guides
Rainbows, Brownies and GuidesThe Rainbows invite girls aged 5 to 7 to join them in the Abbey Church Hall. The Rainbows meet every Monday from 5.30pm until 6.30pm. Activities include: games, cookery, craftwork, badge work and general fun together.

The Brownies invite girls aged 7 to 10 to join them in the Abbey Church Hall. The Brownies meet every Monday from 6.15pm until 7.45pm. Activities include: games, cookery, craftwork, badge work and general fun together.

The Guides invite girls aged 10 to 14 to join them in the Abbey Church Hall. The Guides meet every Monday from 7- 8.30pm. They have the opportunity to learn lots of new skills, participate in community-based activities, go camping make new friends and above all have fun.

The Sunday School
The Sunday School invites children from the ages of 3 to 12 to join us. We begin at 11.00am in the Abbey Church (front pews). Following the Minister’s children’s address, the Sunday School leaves the Church for the Church Hall in Abbey Park Place (there are Elders on the main road controlling the traffic for us).

The children then participate in various activities relating to the Bible story for that week and we finish at 12 noon.

We hold an annual family fun day/picnic in the summer and also a Christmas party for the children.

The children also participate in family services in the Church throughout the year: Easter, summer prize giving, Harvest Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Abbey Crèche
The Sunday School runs a crèche for babies and toddlers of parents attending the 11.00am Church service. The crèche runs during Sunday School term times from 10.45am until the end of the second service.The crèche is held in the Church Hall in Abbey Park Place.
